ACCA Commercial Bred Heifer Program

The American Commercial Cattle Association is proud to introduce the Certified Bred Heifer Program and Certified Bred Heifer Advantage Program to commercial cattlemen. To incentivize participation, along with the certification of 20 head of heifers or more, ranchers will be given 1 year FREE ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP to the American Commercial Cattle Association.  Please read the information below to certify your heifers today!

Criteria for Certification

All heifers MUST meet the criteria below to be approved by the ACCA bred heifer committee.

1. American Origin

All heifers must be born, raised, and purchased in the continental United States. 

2. Body Condition

All heifers must be body condition score 3 or higher. 

3. Vaccinations and Testing

Applicants must provide cattle vaccinations administered. 


To be eligible for the BRED HEIFER ADVANTAGE PROGRAM applicants must also provide documentation confirming the following vaccinations and/or tests:   

  • Calfhood vaccination or brucellosis blood test
  • BVD-PI test 

4. Breeding Qualifications

Heifers must be bred to bull that can be independently confirmed to have a birthweight of less than 75lbs and a calving ease direct of 7 or higher.


Steps to Certification

Follow the steps below to certify your heifers.

Step 1: Obtain an ACCA Bred Heifer Program Application.

Click here to download the application document and ACCA Bull affidavit. 

Step 2: Fill out the documentation above.

Complete each section of the application and ACCA bull affidavit. Sign where indicated. 

Step 3: Certify Breeding

Obtain documentation as to the bulls used and attach them to the application (ex. bull papers). Click here to see examples of accepted documentation. 

Step 4 (Bred Heifer Advantage only): Confirm additional tests/vaccinations.

Obtain Veterinarian documentation as to Calfhood vaccination or provide the blood test results. (attach documents to the application.) Confirm PI-BVD was performed by marking the appropriate box on the application. These documents will make your cattle eligible for the Certified Bred Heifer Advantage Program.  Click here to see examples of accepted documentation.  

Step 5: Video Heifers

Provide ACCA Bred Heifer Program committee with a video of the potential certified heifers to provide confirm shape of heifers.

Step 6: Mail Application to ACCA with the following Documents.

  • ACCA Bred Heifer Application 
  • ACCA Bull Affidavit 
  • Bull Information 
  • Calfhood Vaccination or Blucellosis blood test documentation (Bred Heifer Advantage Program only)
  • $7.50 per head certification fee (Checks must be written to ACCA)

Whats Next?

The ACCA Bred Heifer Program Committee will review your applications and will respond with a decision of approval or denial. 

  • If Approved: Certification tags and signage will be sent to the address provided in the application. Certification documentation and membership confirmation will also be sent to the provided address.

  

  • If Denied: All information and funds will be returned to sender along with reason for denial into program.

 The Bred Heifer Certification Program  provides cattlemen many advantages in marketing and documentation.

  • Affiliating you stock with other high quality commercial livestock.
  • Prospective buyers are given online access to ACCA certification, bull EPD data, and other general information in the incentive archives page.
  • Coming soon! Access to the ACCA Cattle Page. 
  • 1 year free annual membership to the ACCA (with the certification of at least 20 head of heifers)
